The Web Design Process

Web design Process

My approach to web design is like many other studios out there. To guide my clients through the process, I have created a road map to help them, help me in creating a website that will meet their intended audience and business needs now and going forward. The process and its corresponding time-line  is dependent on information delivered by the client.

My Process

Discovery Phase

  1. Initial questionnaire (Download)
  2. Further interview on collected data (Either face-to-face or by phone)
  3. Collection of all marketing collateral (i.e.: brochures, sales sheets, product descriptions, etc.)
  4. Collection of other marketing efforts (i.e.: social media assets, media, advertisements, community memberships,  etc.)
  5. Analysis of your industry to understand your audience
  6. Develop functional requirements
  7. Creation and submission of project brief, time-line and price quote to client for review

Once the project brief is accepted I require a signed contract and 50% deposit of quoted price to kick the project off and move onto the Design Phase.

Design Phase

  1. Keyword Analysis (SEO)
  2. Register domain name(s) (If one is not already owned)
  3. Develop information architecture, structure and naming conventions
  4. Wire framing of site to address navigation, naming and labeling of site assets
  5. Hand off textual requirements needed for site based on site map architecture to client (If you do not want to write the content for the site I have a few writers I work with that are experienced with writing for search engines and the web)
  6. Submit and review with client steps 1 - 5 *
  7. Create graphic templates and submit to client for review *
  8. Optimize graphics and create HTML templates, CSS files and implement light scripting *
  9. Web Design Process

    Integration of back end technologies (Content Management System)

  10. Create and populate pages
  11. Testing of site and client feedback *
  12. Prioritizing and fixing bugs
  13. Final check *
  14. Integration of Google Analytics for measuring success

Delivery & Launch

  1. Schedule training
  2. Set site launch date *
  3. Final Payment (Required before site launch)
  4. Launch site
